The Mortenson Letter
November 2024
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support. As the year continues to speed along we are so thankful for the privilege to serve the Lord in Honduras. October was a month that did not live up to our desired plans, but we know that even when we don’t know the future we can rest in the One who does. Our goal for October was go get into a good rhythm with homeschool and ministry life after a blessed furlough. In the first couple of days of the month Mykenzie came down with what we thought was just a cold virus. But after going to 2 different doctors and a couple of rounds of blood work and chest X-rays it was revealed that she had bacterial pneumonia. In all she ran a fever for 11 days straight and then some sporadic low grade fevers as the antibiotic finally fought off the bacteria. Thankfully she is back to feeling better, but still doing daily nebulizer treatments for another week or so. Needless to say she fell behind on some days of school while she was sick.
Thank you for praying for our residency process. Last month I mentioned that our lawyer was informed that we needed to submit new U.S. background checks to be added to our applications. Waiting for these documents paused our process, but they just arrived from the US yesterday so our lawyer will be submitting them and moving the process on. Our hope is to still receive permanent residency visas sometime early in the new year.
Please be praying for the surgical team that just arrived yesterday. The team has a general surgeon, an orthopedic surgeon and a pediatric dental surgeon. We are excited at the opportunity to partner with them and minister to these patients both physically and spiritually. Please pray for the surgeons to have wisdom, the patients to have peace and receptive hearts as we desire to share Christ with each of them.
Thank you again for your faithful prayers.
PRAYER REQUESTS

PRAYER REQUESTS
- Praise the Lord that Mykenzie is getting better from the pneumonia she had in October.
- Please pray for our residency process. I just received our US background checks that we had to update and so our applications should be able to continue through the approval process.
- Please pray for the surgical team that arrived yesterday. We are looking for God to use this team for His glory.
- Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes and how to best help Blake manage.
From Honduras,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna.
