Mortenson Family: October

October  2024

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support. We feel so blessed to serve the Lord here in Honduras, and we recognize that it is made possible by your partnership with us.

We made it back home on September 19th, and are already finding a rhythm as we jump back into ministry here. Within our first couple of days back, the surgical patients from the team that came in early September came back for post-op evaluations. Already in October here, we are preparing for the group of patients for our last surgical team, which will come in early November. Please pray for the hearts of the patients, the hands of the surgeons, and the preparation for this outreach opportunity.

The very same day that we arrived home, I got a text message from our lawyer who is helping us with our residency applications. He informed me that our applications (which we submitted back in February) have been paused because the Honduran government has requested some updated documentation. Cori and I were able to quickly get the locally obtained documents, but they are also requesting new U.S. background checks. Unfortunately background checks are not available at the U.S. embassy. I requested them online and when they arrive at our sending church, the secretary will send them to the State Department to have them authenticated before overnighting them to Honduras. We don’t yet have a time line for when they will be available. Please pray that we can get them in a timely manner and that it will not drastically slow down our residency applications. We were hopeful to receive new residency cards early in the new year.

Please also be praying for the ministry of Team Honduras as a whole. There have been some difficult situations recently and we need the Lord’s guidance to lead well in the days ahead. Please also pray for the Lord to continue to grow His church, both numerically and spiritually.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers for us.

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Please pray for our residency process and that we can get the updated documents quickly.
  • Please pray for Team Honduras as we prepare for the last surgical team that will come in early November.
  • Please pray for God’s wisdom as we lead through some complicated situations in the ministry.
  • Thank you for continuing to pray for the Lord’s blessing as we grow in our understanding of Type 1 Diabetes and how to best help Blake manage.

From Honduras,
Nate and Cori, with Mykenzie, Grant, Blake and Savanna.
