1 Peter 4:8-11
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things might be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen

Verse one of 1 Peter says, “Forasmuch then as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind ….” The mind of Christ is connected to the heart of Christ and he sees the multitudes and has compassion on them. What we see affects our hearts and should affect our hands and feet and our wallets. We should physically do what we can and are able to but beyond that pray and financially support those that do what we can't where we aren’t. Do unto others with great love, which is an action, not an emotion: using hospitality; being generous liberally; giving out God's word, and in it, the good news of the gospel of Christ; serving others for God's honor and glory, and their good.

September was a blur, lots of miles on the car and in many places, wearing many hats. We started in Indiana. We had not seen Sonya's parents in a year and really needed to get up that way. We spent a couple of days with them and then Kevin left and went back to Indianapolis to be a part of the Who Will Go school of evangelism. This continuing education was a constant reminder of how we need others in ministry to encourage and equip us in this work. Iron sharpeneth iron. Students had several hours each morning in the Scriptures looking at the Bible way of reaching a lost and dying world with the gospel. After lunch teams would break up and go to different areas of the city setting up free Bible tents and face to face witnessing and evangelizing those that would come to the tent. In the evenings there was an old fashioned tent meeting with all the preaching focused on the gospel message and people trusting Christ. This was a phenomenal five days. Kevin really got his axe sharpened and is continuing to chop wood. While in Indianapolis we were able to give an in person update at Indianapolis Baptist Temple with Pastor Roller and the dear folks there. They were one of the first churches to take us on for financial support and traveled to Costa Rica many times to help with different projects there.

We were home for a couple of days and then traveled to Marianna, Florida to teach Sunday school and preach the morning service for New Salem Baptist Church. Pastor Woodruff has been there 10 years and the church wanted him to have an easy day as they celebrated his 10 years of service and God's goodness in that church. It was our privilege to fill in and give the man of God a little break and visit with the sweet people that we helped quite a bit during their recovery from hurricane Michael in 2018.

All of the construction projects we have going for churches are at a standstill at this time. We are either waiting on drawings or permits or funds. We did make a little more progress on our house, bringing in dirt for the foundation and getting the pad ready for concrete but waiting on the permit before we can do anything else.

On Wednesday, September 25, Kevin traveled to Lake Park, Georgia to help Greg Lentz of Hearts with Hands relief ministry set up generators and cables for temporary power at Venture of Faith Camp. Their organization would use this camp as a command center and distribution hub after the coming storm passed. On Thursday, September 26 at around 11 pm, hurricane Helene made landfall 70 miles to our west, rated as a category four hurricane with over 140 mile an hour winds. Our area saw 80+ miles an hour sustained winds and 120+ miles an hour gusts with tornadoes all mixed in. We chose to stay in the area versus evacuating and then not being able to get back in to help with response, relief, and recovery. With it being dark we could not see anything but all through the night would continue to hear bumps and thumps until just before sun up. Early Friday morning Kevin went outside and looked at what we had been through and found lots of trees were down and one took out our well. It looks like a tornado came within 100 feet of our double wide mobile home and took out a lot of trees with a couple landing on our shipping container and lean to shed and one blocking in our utility trailer. We thank the Lord for his hand of protection over us and won't lie; it was a pretty scary event. We began cutting trees right away so we could get out and go help others and had a well repair man here within a couple of hours. We went and checked on our property and there are a lot of trees down all over and one across the corner of the dirt pad where the house would be. Glad the house was not there yet. We have had on our disaster relief hat with Barnabas Relief Ministries and Operation Renewed Hope around the clock and in multiple areas since. We have traveled to the hardest hit areas west and met with Pastors and church leaders and have established distribution hubs for relief supplies. We have delivered generators from one church to another church, cleaned buildings, cut trees, and now we are coordinating the deliveries of supplies from Florida to multiple churches in Florida and Georgia and Tennessee. This is one of the worst storms we have seen and the most widespread affecting so many people. Relief efforts will be on going in some areas for who knows how long. Right now a lot of folks are getting their physical needs met and hearing the gospel. If you would like to help in these efforts physically or financially please send me a private message or email:

Thank you each and every one for your prayers and partnerships and encouragement and faithfulness. Nothing we do is possible without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ number one, and then each of you also. To God be the glory for the great things he has done and is doing!!!

In Christ,
